10th day in Canada

This is the scenery from the plane that we flew in that I woke up 6:oo am to go up in.

This is us coming back as unfortunately we didn't get to the Niagara falls as the clouds were to dangerous to fly through.

This is me, Stephanie and Daniel watching deadzone which was cool as parts of it were filmed in Canada.

This is us after our trip down the Grand river in a canoe.

This is us having lunch in the canoe where we stopped at private property.

This is us about to set out into the Grand river which was great fun especially when we went through some rapids and got soaked.

This is the canoe on top of the car as we drove to the Grand river.

Can you please put everything on my blog instead of emailing it to me please Dad.

What have you been doing Mum? Is Aiden doing good?

We got to within 5 kilometers of Niagara Falls before turning back due to cloud cover over the falls. I am required to fly at 3500 feet above sea level over the falls, which was above the cloud, so there was no point really.

The Grand River was full and fast due to all the rain we have been having over the past few weeks. Almost all the rocks were burried under four feet of water, which made navigation easy. Jasmin really like the large (2 foot) "standing waves".

"The Dead Zone" was filmed in Niagara On The Lake, near where I went to high school. (Jasmin went through this town on day 8.) The scene depicting the band at the political rally has my high-school marching band in it, although this was years after I left the school. Too bad their appearance is uncredited.

Wow Jazz - yet another excting day. You are so lucky to have all these opportunities. As you know I wouldn't have got anywhere near the water ... or the plane ... or the rides ... or the scary films ... or the glass roof. I definitely would have had a cinnabon though

As for me - well the first week I was working and this week I am painting. Hopefully everything will be shiny white when you get back. I've also been spending a lot of time with Alana. Shortbread is fine, although I think she's gettin double rations as Cassie is feedng her in case I forget. I am going to get Cassie to clean her out today - as you know I don't go near hamsters either - what a wuss I am :)

Dear Jazz,
Just like your mum says, another fantastic day in what would appear to be the holiday of a lifetime. So much adventure in such a short time. I would get up at 4 am the previous Sunday to have another plane ride!
I haven't seen The Deadzone but will get it from the video shop so that I also will know what everyone is talking about. While I would feel safer with Doug in a plane than with myself in a car, the canoeing looks very scarificacious indeed! Doug says that all the rocks were buried under 4 feet of water. ALL of them? There must be a scale of stick-outness between sticking right out and 4 feet under as the river level rises. I would be worried about the one that looks like a giant razor-blade one inch beneath the water I am about to rush over!.
Merel has a theory about hamsters, proven by experiment. If you squeeze them in the middle, thier eyes bulge out.
All the best to you, and thanks for this smashing blog.

Love Granddad and Bernadet.

PS. Doug, you are a diamond.

Its very different flying in a little plane than a big airliner isn't it? Its still hard to believe they will stay up.
It looks just as wet as summer in England and believe me, its been wet, the river is very high.Dad stayed with us last night. I think he will be glad to see you home but you are having so many different experiences you may be glad just to flop in France.Enjoy love grandma,[and grandpa]
